Janie Marie Stowe, 79, of Coto De Caza, CA, passed away on September 8th, 2026, at Saddleback Memorial ICU after a long battle with bone marrow cancer, and heart and kidney failure.
Janie was born on April 27, 1947, in Altadena, CA to Richard Otho Norton and Alice Marie Sealy. Raised in Riverside, CA she met her husband, Wayne, at a Baptist church. Later they moved to Ridgecrest, CA to raise their two children. Always willing to pitch in, Janie worked as the Office Manager for their start up business, B&L Business Machines. Many years later, Janie moved down to Orange County, CA to be closer to her daughter. She was there for the birth of her beloved grandchild, Connor who immediately became the new love of her life. After coming over the day Connor was brought home from the hospital, she moved in part time to become an integral part of his upbringing. For the past year, Janie resided full time with her daughter and family filling their home with love while creating lasting, irreplaceable memories.
Known for her devotion to her family and love for her Saviour, Jesus Christ, Janie was always positive and smiling, welcoming everyone she met with a warm hug that lasted a little extra long. Rather than telling someone about herself, she was genuinely interested in the lives and well-being of others, always there to listen. Selfless, thoughtful, and loving is how Janie walked through life. She showed her children and grandson the greatest gift of unconditional love. Always present, always patient, and always the absolute best Mom and Grammy. Being together with family was what made her happiest.
Janie is survived by her ex-husband, Wayne Stowe, two children, Brian Stowe and Lori Stowe and her grandson Connor Parlet, as well as her siblings Shirley Helmick, Richard Norton, and Ron Norton.
Anywhere with an ocean view and sunshine was Janie’s favorite place to be. Join us for her memorial service on October 3, 2026, at 10am at the Laguna Beach United Methodist Church, immediately followed by a celebration of life at Mozambique’s rooftop terrace.
Mom…you gave all of yourself to family, filling us with “oodles and gobs” of love. Love and hugs to you.
