Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Janice Mae Peterson. She was 85 years old. Born in Chicago, IL., she eventually made her home in Lake Forest, CA.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Donn K. Peterson and is survived by her four children, Kathy McCoy, Diane O’Leary, Donna Wharton and Donn Peterson Jr., nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

For most of her working years, she worked as a cashier for Lucky’s Supermarket where she enjoyed greeting her regular customers and the camaraderie of her fellow employees. After she and her husband retired she spoke often of those good times and how she missed them.

She was very passionate about her family.  Enjoying time with them chatting, laughing, playing cards or watching golf and her beloved Angels or Cubbies.

Christmas was her favorite time of year, she would spend endless hours decorating her Christmas village. She always enjoyed having the entire family over on Christmas Eve where she prepared a big feast for all.  Her Christmas butter cookies were a favorite especially her “bacon” ones.

She was strong-minded.  There was nothing she couldn’t do and no one could hold her back from doing it.

She loved her life and it was a good life. She will be greatly missed.
