Janet Mactague
June 30, 1939 – September 20, 2024

Janet Mactague, 85, of Aliso Viejo, CA, passed away on September 20. She is survived by her loving son, Jonathan; her daughter, Susan (and husband, Brian); and four grandchildren, Bryn, Tyler, Emma, and Jaden. Janet is also remembered by her cousins Peter, Anne (and husband, Bernard), Paul (and wife, Suzy), and Tim.

Born on June 30, 1939, in Sunderland, County Durham, England, Janet moved to New York in her early twenties to work as a Flight Attendant for TWA. In 1964, she made the permanent move to California after marrying Charles Mactague (Chuck).

While raising her family, Janet earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Communicative Disorders from California State University, Northridge. She began her career as a Speech Therapist and later returned to school to earn her Resource credential, which led her to a fulfilling career as a Special Education teacher, where she truly found her niche.

Janet had a passion for travel, cherishing the opportunity to explore new places and connect with friends and family. A lifelong learner, she enjoyed taking classes at the local community college, participating in book clubs, joining Tai Chi classes, and supporting causes close to her heart.

One of Janet’s favorite sayings was, “If you meet life halfway, it will meet you the other half.” She lived her life in accordance with this philosophy, selflessly giving of herself to others. Janet will be greatly missed for her kind heart, sharp wit, and unwavering love and support. We will carry her in our hearts always.

A celebration of Janet’s life will take place on Saturday, November 9. Her ashes will be floated at sea, honoring her adventurous spirit.
