Janet Elaine “Jan” Sherman (née Sheetz), age 92, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, in Lake Forest, California.

The daughter of Harry and Helen (Shirk) Sheetz, born on February 14, 1933, in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Jan lived a long and full life marked by devotion to her family and a deep appreciation for the world around her.

Jan was a loving mother to her five children: Rick (Crystal), Mark, Suzanne (Jerry), Chris (Marie), Alison (Brad), and their families. She was also a cherished grandmother to Mariah, Rebecca, Jennifer, Joshua, Aaron, Andrew, Leah, Carley, and Dylan and great grandmother to River, Ronan, Aila, Miles, Emmett, Gina, Eudora and Sibyl.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard (Dick), with whom she shared many years of marriage; her brother Robert (Bob); and her sisters Betty and Geraldine.

Jan had a zest for life that found expression in many ways. She was an avid tennis player and loved hiking. Her love of photography allowed her to capture the beauty she saw in everyday life.
