  1. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Jim Downey

  2. Although I did not know Jim Downey extremely well, his sister Mary Kay is a very good friend of my family. I know he will be missed greatly and as a pilot and a Cadet in Air Force ROTC I am deeply appreciative of his service to the aviation community and to this great country. Lt. Colonel Downey recommended me to the Air Force Academy and although I do not attend the Academy, it is because of him I have a wonderful scholarship and excel in the ROTC program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I hope to follow in Lt. Colonel Downey’s footsteps as I graduate and commission into the world’s finest Air Force.
God Bless Jim and the enitre Downey family.
