Obituary

James Rodney Trotter was born on April 22, 1928 in Black Diamond, Washington and passed away peacefully on April 6, 2010 at home in Laguna Woods, California. At his bedside was his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara and oldest daughter Debby Lamb and Home Health Care Giver Angel. ‘Jim’ or ‘Rod,’ or Dad, Grandpa or Great-Grandpa, whatever you called him, he was a real treasure to know. He was also known for the Greek Captain’s hat he always wore that also gave him the nickname ‘Popeye.’

Barb and Rod lived in Costa Mesa in the same home for 42 years then moved to Laguna Woods. Jim was honored in October 2006 with a 50-year membership certificate from the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada Local 582.

Jim is survived by a loving family which includes his loving wife Barbara; 6 children, Debby Trotter Lamb, Bill Trotter, Scott Trotter, Julie Trotter Beavor, Bob Trotter, living in Hillsboro, Oregon and Tom Trotter who lives in Troy, Ohio. There are 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

There will be a mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church on El Toro Road in Laguna Woods on Monday April 12, at 9 AM. Following the mass, there will be a graveside service at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach, then back home for refreshments. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hoag Memorial Foundation/Emergency Room or your charity of choice.

    Dear Debbie and Family,
Would just like to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am sending this message from Puyallup, WA which isn’t too far from Black Diamond.
It’s too bad to see our loved ones passing away. I lost my Dad last May. He was still in Santa Ana. They were both part of that Great Generation. We owe them our respect and gratitude.
May God Bless your entire family,
    Tom Trunk MD ’68

  4. Dear Debbie & Family,
My thoughts & prayers are sent to you & your family during this difficult time. It’s so hard to lose someone so close; hopefully, there are many wonderful memories of your Dad to keep you company. I remember meeting him at your home years ago; he was a friendly & warm person who put up with our periodic ‘teen-years’ gatherings. Sincerely,

  5. Debbie- My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time. My own precious father passed away at age 97 a couple of years ago and I miss him dearly. Memories are a wonderful thing! -From an old MD schoolmate.
