Obituary

James Rodney Trotter was born on April 22, 1928 in Black Diamond, Washington and passed away peacefully on April 6, 2010 at home in Laguna Woods, California. At his bedside was his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara and oldest daughter Debby Lamb and Home Health Care Giver Angel. ‘Jim’ or ‘Rod,’ or Dad, Grandpa or Great-Grandpa, whatever you called him, he was a real treasure to know. He was also known for the Greek Captain’s hat he always wore that also gave him the nickname ‘Popeye.’

Barb and Rod lived in Costa Mesa in the same home for 42 years then moved to Laguna Woods. Jim was honored in October 2006 with a 50-year membership certificate from the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada Local 582.

Jim is survived by a loving family which includes his loving wife Barbara; 6 children, Debby Trotter Lamb, Bill Trotter, Scott Trotter, Julie Trotter Beavor, Bob Trotter, living in Hillsboro, Oregon and Tom Trotter who lives in Troy, Ohio. There are 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

There will be a mass at St. Nicholas Catholic Church on El Toro Road in Laguna Woods on Monday April 12, at 9 AM. Following the mass, there will be a graveside service at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach, then back home for refreshments. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hoag Memorial Foundation/Emergency Room or your charity of choice.

Thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, with which I’ll never part. God has you in His keeping, I have you in my heart.
Debby, I wanted to share these words with you because they mean alot to me.My father also passed away about 18 months ago. God bless you and your family during these difficult times…..Nick Frank MDHS ’68
