Obituary

James Harry Eklund, 67, was born September 15, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away June 28, 2018 at home in Lake Forest, California.

Proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran for almost three years, receiving his Combat Infantry badge, National Defense Service medal and Sharpshooter M14.

James is survived by his wife Sunilla Alice Lewis Eklund; daughter Jessica Eklund; daughter Andrea Phillips and her husband Brad; grandsons Oliver and Obi Phillips; sisters Joan Sandstrom and Judy Tiffner.

His love for construction saw him working in this industry for most of his career.
He loved helping people- family, friends, strangers – whenever he could and always went the extra mile.
Spending time with family and friends was his priority, only rivaled by his passion for most sports, first the Minnesota Twins, then the LA Angels for baseball, along with attending the Ducks hockey games whenever he could.
‘The song has ended but the melody lingers on’
A Celebration of James life will be held at 2:00pm in the Clubhouse at the Eklund’s residential community, 24001 Muirlands Blvd., Lake Forest, CA 92630.

  1. Dear Sunilla and family,

Our heartfelt condolences to you all. Jim was so well thought of by everyone that knew him. Jim was a happy man and he showed it to everyone with his smiles and hugs. On Jim’s last visit to Minnesota he made a comment to me about how he was the luckiest man to have meet and married Sunilla. And he talked about how much his family meant to him. He said he loved his life! Although Jim’s away physically now he’s always in our hearts forever. Love you all, Steve and Nancy

Jim added a lot of good to this world, and was a blessing to many. All my memories of him are very positive. Thanks for making me a part of the family. Love,

    Rick
