Obituary
James Harry Eklund, 67, was born September 15, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois and passed away June 28, 2018 at home in Lake Forest, California.
Proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran for almost three years, receiving his Combat Infantry badge, National Defense Service medal and Sharpshooter M14.
James is survived by his wife Sunilla Alice Lewis Eklund; daughter Jessica Eklund; daughter Andrea Phillips and her husband Brad; grandsons Oliver and Obi Phillips; sisters Joan Sandstrom and Judy Tiffner.
His love for construction saw him working in this industry for most of his career.
He loved helping people- family, friends, strangers – whenever he could and always went the extra mile.
Spending time with family and friends was his priority, only rivaled by his passion for most sports, first the Minnesota Twins, then the LA Angels for baseball, along with attending the Ducks hockey games whenever he could.
‘The song has ended but the melody lingers on’

Dearest Sunilla, Jess, and Andrea,
We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Jim. I have such wonderful memories of coming around to your place in Inverloch when I was a little girl – and all the wonderful food that was on offer. I especially remember Jim’s infectious laugh and his stories. He is lucky to have such a wonderful family and beautiful grandchildren. We are thinking of your family during this difficult time.
Lots of love, the Albantow family (Veena, Rob, Natalie and Andrew) xx

I’m lost for words…
How time has flown by so fast, it only feels like yesterday that I was a teenager, hanging out at your place in Inverloch with Andrea.
I have very fond memories of you coming home from work, calling out to Andrea and I for a chat and laugh, sometimes with a story or 2, then when Sunilla would walk in the door, you would quietly walk out of the room as if it was Sunilla’s time to take over the house. Your job of looking after us and making us laugh for a moment was done.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Sunilla, Jess & Andrea-I know you must be feeling broken right now, but please remember, your amazing dad is living through yourself with your layed back chilled nature and Ollie’s characteristic personality.
Keep on smiling Jim xx
