James Gonzales' Obituary

James Gonzales, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on December 14, 1940, to Felix Gonzales and Lupe Gonzales in Los Angeles, California.

James lived a life characterized by tenderness and steadfast love for his family and friends. He was a beloved husband and stepfather known for his kindness and quirky sense of humor. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him.

James graduated from University of California Los Angeles in 1962 and was board qualified as a CPA the same year. He was passionate about his work as a supervisory auditor auditing government defense contracts. He approached his work with dedication and integrity. His interests were far-ranging: He loved music and the arts: jazz, classical, opera, ballet, impressionism. Famously, for jazz, he could “name that tune” in one note. He was an avid consumer of World War II history and literature.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Taloyo, stepsons Angel Taloyo, Carlos Taloyo (Dawn) and Dennis Taloyo (Christine), brothers Robert (Alice), Thomas (Lorraine), William, and sisters Elizabeth Gray (James) and Christina Gunn (Steve).

A celebration of life mass will be held on April 19, 2024, at Santiago de Compostela Catholic Church at 10:00 am; followed by funeral services at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Lake Forest California. All friends and family are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
