Reverend James Adolph Folkers lived from September 13, 1930 to September 9, 2024.

James (Jim) Folkers was 93 years old. He was born in a farm house between Melvin and Ashton, Iowa. He then went on to attend Northwestern University and Dallas Theological Seminary. Jim was a pastor at three other churches before moving to Mission Viejo, CA in 1970 where he was the founding pastor of Mission Hills Church in Mission Viejo, CA.  He touched the lives of many people as a pastor and shepherd, bringing light and hope to the community he cared so much about. Jim was known as a friendly and knowledgeable man who was well respected and always had a smile on his face. Jim also was the founding pastor of Irvine Woods Church in Irvine, CA – which later changed names to Pacific Church of Irvine – where he continued his work spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

James Folkers was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Novia Folkers, and his parents Adolph and Jennie Folkers. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Shirley Connon Folkers, as well as his 3 children and their families: Timothy Folkers, Susan Crichton and Martha Meadows, his 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and 4 step children and their families. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Carl Folkers, sister Jean Wagner and their families.

A celebration of Pastor Jim’s life will be held on October 4 ^th at 1:30pm at Mission Hills Church, located at 24162 Alicia Parkway, Mission Viejo, CA.
