Obituary
James Charles Bastian, Sr., was born at home in Chicago, IL on September 19, 1946 and died at home in Mission Viejo, CA on September 29, 2010.
Loved always and forever by his wife of 43 years, Leslie, sons James Elizabeth and Joshua Amanda, daughter Cass Ted Philpott, grandchildren Kassidy, Caroline, Michael, Katherine, John and Elle. Loving husband, father, brother, uncle, coach, mentor and dear friend to all who knew him.
Services will be held Friday, October 8, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., St. Kilian Catholic Church Mission Viejo. Inurnment immediately following at Ascension Cemetery & Mausoleum, Lake Forest.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Jim’s memory be sent to Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, www.pcrf-kids.org or Boys Town California, www.boystown.org.

The first time I met Jimmy,I was in High School and Jay took me to a local dance on Western Avenue just above the “Presto” Restraurant Jimmy was coming home from the Marines. I got to meet my brother law to be jafter he umped thorough the middle of a table explainging he was Jay’s brother and they did not loose fights – always won!
Finally he met Leslie who could hold her own being a tiny little thing and she kept him in line better than anyone ever could.
Best memories: You bought Jay Jr. a DRUM SET for his first birthday You both laughed histerical then you had Jimmy JR – drums right back at you, took me to my my first Black Hawks game, my first concert Led Zepland, many fond memories.
My love has never expired for the both of you and the family. If I or Jay JR, can help in any way please let me know. I can’t begin to understand the sadness you must experiencing.
