Obituary

James (Jim) C. Moore passed away on January 1, 2023 after a multi-month battle with chronic lung fibrosis. Jim is survived by his wife Janet, daughter Maureen, sister Kathy, and two grandchildren. Jim was blessed with a large extended family including his son-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Born in Los Angeles in 1950 and raised in Fullerton, CA, Jim spent most of his adult life as a resident of Capistrano Beach. Jim was a family man who extended his loyalty, kindness and compassion to all people he encountered in life, be it fellow parishioners at Our Lady of Fatima and St. Edwards parishes, his work colleagues, or friends he cultivated in the local community. Jim was a goal-oriented man, whose determination fueled everything he did. A successful career sales director, Jim also enjoyed coaching basketball, mentoring entrepreneurs, and helping those in need. In his retirement years, he dove into new hobbies like drone flying, taught himself about new technologies, and enjoyed the company of his two energetic grandchildren, Mafalda and Gabriel.

Jim will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, from the encouragement he extended to others during challenging times, to the determination he inspired in us all, especially in recent years through his perseverance and resolve to push through numerous health crises.

Whether Jim was telling a joke or sharing an inspirational quote, we think back on his full life with a smile and will cherish our memories of him.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 18 at 11am at St. Edwards Church in Dana Point. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to offer a donation in Jim’s name to Boys and Girls Club of the South Coast Area or FAM, Family Assistance Ministries.

    Dear Janet and Family,
I went to St. Mary’s Elementary School with you and Jim. Today I was just thinking about you and I looked you up online. I was sad to find that Jim died a month ago. You are all in my prayers today. I am glad that I got to see you at our St. Mary’s Reunion several years ago. Jim was a very good person. I hope you and Maureen will always feel his spirit with you in the days ahead.
