Obituary

Irene M. Horback nee Croteau

Born September 19, 1922 in Fall River, MA, was the eldest of twelve children to Herman and Yvonne Croteau. She lived most of her life in Southern California. Forever sunny and bright, she never met a stranger. She was considered ?Mom? to the retired stewardesses of Clipped Wings in both Los Angeles and O.C. Chapters since 1976. Predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Albert J. Horback.

In 1998, Irene made the transition from the San Fernando Valley to Lake Forest in a very short time. Living across the street from her daughter, Jean Horback Adams, she delighted in attending movies, conventions, events and anything with fun-loving people. Everyone who knew her marveled at how you she looked for being 83 years old. She was broadsided by a car on El Toro Road and died instantly. Tragic.

She leaves on son, Glen of Lone Tree, CO; six brothers and three sisters, on both coasts.

Irene blossomed whenever around her four grandchildren, Craig of Orange, CO, Kyle of Colorado, Kimberly and Kristina of Alameda. Her life changed many, and she will be forever remembered.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2006 ~ 7:00 P.M. at O’Connor Laguna Hills Mortuary, Laguna Hills, California.

What can one say about Irene Horback or as so many called her “MoM” I once only knew her as grandma, but as I became older I grew to learn who that sweet vivatious and loving woman was all about. I learned of a life of struggle and hardship, of a uneducated young woman that was more educated in life and love than any school could teach. The second oldest of twelve and a mother of two great loving children, Irene was a woman that took life as it came at her with a uncany way of just absorbing the good times and letting the bad times roll off her sholders. I will miss her end-less stories and that smile that let you know your loved. I know she is in heven now and god will take it from here. I thank god for every loving memory of my sweet as cinnamon grandma. I hope and pray that the time on this earth was rembered by all as the way to live the life we all are given as “A Gift” I’ll miss you grandma…
You were and Will always be in my heart and dreams.
    xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox….. For Ever!!!
    Love Always Craig

  5. Irene was always up-beat and cheerful; someone who seemingly
never met a stranger. We fondly
remember our last meeting at Kims
    graduation. She looked great and
seemed a lot younger than her years. – We are so sorry for your
    loss.
