Obituary

Irene M. Horback nee Croteau

Born September 19, 1922 in Fall River, MA, was the eldest of twelve children to Herman and Yvonne Croteau. She lived most of her life in Southern California. Forever sunny and bright, she never met a stranger. She was considered ?Mom? to the retired stewardesses of Clipped Wings in both Los Angeles and O.C. Chapters since 1976. Predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Albert J. Horback.

In 1998, Irene made the transition from the San Fernando Valley to Lake Forest in a very short time. Living across the street from her daughter, Jean Horback Adams, she delighted in attending movies, conventions, events and anything with fun-loving people. Everyone who knew her marveled at how you she looked for being 83 years old. She was broadsided by a car on El Toro Road and died instantly. Tragic.

She leaves on son, Glen of Lone Tree, CO; six brothers and three sisters, on both coasts.

Irene blossomed whenever around her four grandchildren, Craig of Orange, CO, Kyle of Colorado, Kimberly and Kristina of Alameda. Her life changed many, and she will be forever remembered.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2006 ~ 7:00 P.M. at O’Connor Laguna Hills Mortuary, Laguna Hills, California.

Irene Horback lived her life as God must have intended. She was one of the sweetest and most lovely flowers in his garden. Irene brought joy to every soul she touched and comfort to each of us at various times in our lives whenever we were in need. Surely she was one of his Angels. The light in her spirit that always shone so brightly whenever she was near will continue to live in our hearts. She has been in my life for the last 50 years and now she will live in my heart forever.
My dear friend Jean, Glen, Craig and to all of the family, please know that your loss is shared my so very many. May you be comforted in these difficult days by the memory of her joyful soul. And as she would do every morning in her tennis shoes and little visor—and you will again do in time, go experience a joyful day ahead, and feel her with you every step of the way.

  3. Heaven will be a little brighter now with Auntie Irene up there to flash her big, bright smile and that infectious laugh of hers; and here on Earth it will be a little less bright to have lost her. I will truly miss her. She was always such a “classy” lady. Pam and I offer our deepest condolences to my cousins, my aunts and uncles, and my dad. She will be missed.

  4. Dear Jeannie, Glen, and family,
My love goes out to all of you…
“I am like a falling star who has finally found her place next to another on a lovely constellation, where we will sparkle in the heavens forever.”
You will never be forgotten auntie Irene. I Love You

Dear Jeanie, Glen, the Croteau and Horback Families:

My heartfelt condolences go out to all of you in the untimely passing of your loved one and my longtime friend. Irene and I were friends for about 30+ years. We had alot of fun together going to the polka festivals, whether it be in Laughlin, Vegas or the many places here in Southern California. What a dear and loving friend she was. I remember when I went to pick her up on our way to the polkas she would have waiting for me a wonderful lunch of potato pancakes. Being that I am of Lithuanian heritage like her deceased husband Al, she knew how well I loved those pancakes. And what good tasting pancakes they were. And what a time we all had at her 80th birthday party that her children hosted for her. I’m happy that I was included in those fun times and was able to meet many members of her lovely family. I am very thankful that Irene and I was able to have a great phone conversation about 3 weeks or so ago not ever realizing that would be our last contact together. My prayers and God’s blessings go out to her entire family and to her many, many friends. What a blessing to have had Irene in my live.

Love you Irene, I will surely miss you.

    Betty Mraz
