Ida Mae Becker, 86, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2012, in her home in Laguna Hills, CA. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard (Bern) and John.

She will be missed by her daughter Janice (Jan) Sprik; son Simon Granville; grandchildren Samuel (Sam) Sprik, Skye Sprik, Krista Becker, and Max Becker.

Ida Mae Becker was born September 7, 1925, in Clifton, New Jersey to Bernard and Johanna Houseward, both immigrants from Holland. She graduated from High School in Hawthorne, New Jersey. After graduation she worked using her secretarial skills in a doctor’s office, lived at home, and contributed her wages to the family household. While at a party she met Jay Becker, who was enrolled in Pennsylvania State for officer’s training school. They married in 1944, and moved to Inglewood, California to be near his family while he studied engineering at USC under the GI Bill. Ida went to work as a secretary for the aerospace company North American. Once Jay graduated and began working, Ida Mae was able to stay home to be a mother and homemaker.

There will be a Memorial Service on Monday, May 7, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at O’Connor Mortuary Chapel in Laguna Hills, California.
