Obituary
Howard Reynolds Beazell
Howard Reynolds Beazell passed away on Tuesday, February 20th 2013 in Bear Valley Community Hospital. He was a California native. He was born in Santa Monica on February 2nd 1935 to Howard Lawson and Cathryn Reynolds Beazell. He lived inmany locations in his lifetime, all being in Southern California.
He graduated from Claremont Men’s College (now Claremont McKenna College) with a Finance Degree. Right out of college, he went to work for Marble Mortgage Company then United California Bank then First Interstate Bank.
Mr. Beazell retired from First Interstate Bank in about 1990 as a Vice President.
He served his country in the United States Navy for 30 years, both activity duty and reserves. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 1995.
Mr. Beazell married Janet Marie Gulsby in 1958 to 1995 when she passed away from cancer. He then married Margaret Jean Yokee in 1996 .
Surviving are his widow, Margaret; his 3 children, Mrs. Katy Gibbons of Rancho Cucamonga, Howard L of Long Beach, Mrs. Jenny Ellis of Whittier; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; his brother Richard M. Beazell of Big Bear.
Services are graveside for immediate family.

Because of the love of scoutimg that Howard and Janet always had, I have three Eagle Scout sons. Those two were always a great example of how to work with and love the boys. Howard always found a way to help even the most difficult scout. I will miss you Sarge! But you are with your Powder Puff again. With Love, Nancy Jolley

I just heard the news about the scoutmasters passing. Both he and his wife had done so much for us through scouting. I will always be proud and thankful to have been part of his troop. Thanks so much brother Beazell.

I have never known a person that knew how to handle young men more effectively than Howard. I watched in amazement at how he helped his scouts mature into wonderful young men. It was an honor to have been in the bishopric that first called him to be a scoutmaster and to have worked with him as his committee chairman and friend.

Howard Beazell was instrumental in the lives of so many of the young men that associated with Troop 718. His signature mix of gravitas, tradition and humor, administered in equal parts, played a key role in helping generations of rough and tumble kids to develop into confident responsible adults. Howard’s, and his late wife Janet’s love for the outdoors turned many of us into lifelong campers and hikers. My fondest memories of Howard are those of him standing off to the side with that ever present gleam in his eye as one of his many charges are presented with awards and rank. I profess my gratitude for having known Howard along with sincere condolences to his Wife and extended family for their loss.
