Obituary
Hossein Ali Lotfi passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Born on July 16, 1930 in Iran, he moved to the Big Apple in his twenties where he obtained his Bachelors of Arts from Columbia University before living the remainder of his life in Southern California.
Hossein was a painter, a calligrapher, a photographer, a traveler, a gardener, a cook, and a friend to many. He loved art and worked as an illustrator for Lockheed Martin until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, and would often stop to smell the roses. He had a zeal for travel and his Nikon camera would always follow wherever his travels lead him. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting a new masterpiece, making marmalade (out of anything), and watching westerns.
Hossein loved kabob, a hot cup of tea, BBQs, road trips, all things nature, playing air violin, M&M chocolates, classic films, cognac, tailor-made suits, and dress socks , oh how he loved his dress socks. But he hated garden gophers, solicitors, traffic jams, and nosy neighbors , not necessarily in that order.
Hossein is survived by his wife Mahvash, son David Amin Lotfi, daughter Leila Lotfi Gagnon, nieces, nephews, and many loving family members and friends.
Peace be thine now, Hossein. Continue to enjoy your apple pie and coffee.

Very saddened by the loss of Hossein Lotfi. He will be missed but not forgotten. I remember our childhood trips with the Lotfi family to various places, but predominantly to Lake Tahoe. He loved the scenery, taking photos, and spending time with his family. My deepest condolescenes to David and Leila, who were like siblings to me when I was growing up, and to Mahvash Jan, who was like my second mom. We are thinking of all of you during this rough time. May he Rest In Peace. Sending you all lots of love.

My remaining uncle, joined to the rest of his brothers and the only sister “My Mother” in heaven on Sunday, May 20, 2018. We miss him dearly. My brother “Dean Mohajeri” was one of his close confident, always handing a helping hand and advising him in life and family matters. He “My Brother” loved him very much.
Our deepest sympathy to his dear wife and children, “Mahvash, David and Leila”.
May God bless you and the family in these hard times and hope with time this pain will be taken away.
