  1. We wish to send our love and support to all the Rooney family at this sad time. Like so many others we feel that we have lost someone close and valued in Helen and we will miss her. May she rest in peace.

  2. Dear Mr. Rooney, Mary Ann, Kathy, Patti and John,

As I reflect on the past 34 years since I came to know and love the Rooneys, I want to thank each of you and Mrs. Rooney, now up in Heaven, for the wonderful memories we all share as lifelong friends. It breaks my heart not have Mrs. Rooney here with all of us anymore. But I know we will meet once again.

I loved Mrs. Rooney so much! I want to thank her for many things – so many memories – through the years. She was my second mother and she treated me like an adopted daughter. I felt special! She opened her heart and arms to me and I always felt at home whenever I visited Rooneyland. Rooneyland, like its flashier friend by a similar name, is considered to be the real ‘magic kingdom’ in in my lifebook. Your family home was the loving location for my “Sweet Sixteen” birthday gathering which was also my first surprise birthday party. At Rooneyland, I was celebrated with a wedding engagement dinner party 23 years ago, my first baby shower 21 years ago, and a traditional Irish wake to celebrate my own father’s life when he passed away six years ago.

These past few years were difficult for my beloved friend, Mrs. Rooney. I wanted to give back to her. So I would call her and visit her bringing my own mother every couple of months. Those were nice times down Memory Lane again..Mary Ann and I could really make them laugh with our shenanigans! They’d both forget their health problems for a little while while we reminisced.

To the end, Mrs. Rooney was there for me through good times and sad times. I thank God for the gift of Mrs. Rooney in my life. I will always feel her spirit in my heart. God bless her and God bless all of you.

    Love,
    Valerie Dawson aka Valerie Moylan

  3. Dear Mr Rooney,
Please accept my condolences. Mrs Rooney was a very special person, who will be missed by all. I am sorry I could not be at the funeral with the rest of my family. I will cherish my special memory of Mrs Rooney and what she said to me before I got married to her second daughter Valerie
    God Bless,
    Donnie Dawson

  4. To Helen’s family… I am so sorry that we missed Helen’s funeral Mass. She was great lady… with a great husband and great kids. I miss seeing “the girls” at St. Nick’s and will never forget all the fun we had at the end-of-year choir parties. May you all find confort knowing she’s with the Lord.
