BAEDEKER, Helen Elizabeth

Helen Baedeker was born in Danville, Illinois, on October 26, 1914, and died in San Clemente on January 21, 2008, at 93.  Helen grew up in Chicago before moving to California in the late 1930's.  In 1943 she married Bud Baedeker, her husband of 59 years until his death in 2004.  Bud Baedeker was the renowned founder and publisher of Baedeker's Guide, a daily selection sheet which was sold at thoroughbred racetracks throughout California.

Helen is survived by her son Bob and his wife Rosalie; son Rick and his wife Claudia; daughter Kate and her husband Bruce Brandt; and daughter Teri and her husband Gary Pohlson.  She was the beloved grandmother of 15 and great grandmother of 10.  A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Huntington Beach on Friday, January 25, 2008.
