Harry and I planned trumpet together in the Neshannock High School band. I can still hear him laughing and see him fooling around during our practice sessions and on trips to football games. He graduated a year ahead of me, but we had some good times at NHS. God Bless him….

  2. It is with great sympathy that Paula and I express our sincere sorrow to Donna and her family in the passing of Harry.
We first meet Harry while students at YSU. After a three year period of teaching Biology across the hall from Harry, we both decided to go back to school and become Podiatrists.
We shared an apartment together as well as all the trials and tribulations, joys and sorrows that followed us for those four years of Podiatry school.
Our memory of Harry will always be that of a great lover of the outdoors, a true gentleman and scholar with a passion for caring for his patients in a very unselfish way. Above all of that, he was first a family man who loved his wife Donna and their sons.
It was a great shock to me to hear of his passing. He left this world way to soon with many unfinished paths yet to follow.
He was one of the “good guys” and he will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
Paula and I hope that all of the good memories that the Confer family has of Harry will help get them through this very difficult time. You will always remember Harry, and when you do, think of him as still being with you……..but just a little bit above you.

Although we attended rival high schools, Harry and I were very close friends all through high school and college due to our families attending the same summer church camp. I have many fond memories of parties held in his Youngstown hovel ( apt) while we were in college. I now wish we had stayed in closer touch in recent years…something other than forwarding email jokes and stories. I guess it’s true about hindsight always being 20 / 20.. One of my favorite memories comes from probably the late 60’s. Harry had a little VW Beetle which he bought for a few bucks and was constantly repairing. One day he came to pick me up ( I had no car) and he had taken the seats out of the VW to have reupholstered and had replaced both the driver’s seat and the passenger’s seat with wooden folding chairs…..the chairs were just sitting in the car not anchored to anything. What a wild ride that was. Ah, the memories. Rest in Peace my good friend. Bill Carson

I have such wonderful memories of Harry and the entire family from years ago in Pennsylvania, Harry and the crew spent “Family Week” at Camp Lambec on Lake Erie the same time my family was there. He and my brother, Bill, had a special bond. Harry’s mom, Ruth, was a close friend of my parents, Pinky and Evie, and that friendship endured for decades. My sincere sympathy to Donna and the boys, Barbie, Bob and Tom.
