Obituary

Harriett Elizabeth Pernet McFedters born July 23, 1907 in Odell, Illinois died on November 19, 2004 in Mission Viejo, Ca.
Harriett lived a long and happy life. She was born to Joseph Clark Pernet and Blanche Isabel Gutel. She had two younger sisters that preceeded her in death. Though she lost her mother at age 11, she had a stablic childhood and loving relatives to raise her. She was very close to her father ‘Pa’ and her sister Helen. She married Quinn McFedters in 1930 and had two daughters, Susan and Shirley. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She enjoyed working a few years as a school secretary. Her highest priority however was her family. She was a treasure to them and her influence will be felt for many years. She will be greatly missed.

  1. We sure love you, Grandma! We had many years of fun before you became so feeble. I love that you danced at my wedding at age 92, five years ago. I love that we’re the “Hot” and “Cold” twins, H=Harriett and C=Carolyn, and that you always signed your letters to me “Your twin”. I love that you were so silly. I love that you were full of love and support for each of us. I love that I have some of your recipes; Mushroom Pot Roast and others are made frequently at our house.

I know you have been greeted by your mother, dad, Grandpa, Aunt Helen and other dear ones that have gone on and we will be together again.

    With love,
    your twin,
    Carolyn
and Kim, Andrew and baby on the way

  2. Dear Mom and Susan,
We all love Grandma so much and will miss her presence here. We are all thinking about you. Take care! We love you.

Although I only knew Harriett through her visits to Shirley in Eugene, I always enjoyed her upbeat attitude and sense of humor. She has left a legacy of wonderful daughters and grandchildren, who will greatly miss her presence on earth.

  5. Grandma’s passing does not quite seem real, her enormous spirit lingers. I will remember her child like enthusiasm for the simple joys in life, a beautiful flower,a hand to hold, a piece of pie and of course jelly beans! That little lady could put away the food! Her last Christmas card raved about a dish I cooked for her years ago. She found the good people, was non-judgemental and said more than once with a twinkle in her eyes, “live and let live”. Thank you for your wisdom and Love, your legacy lives in the hearts of those you touched. I am grateful Denae, Kelsey and Makenna had you in their lives and I got to have a “Grandma” again.
