Obituary

Our beloved mother began the next stage of her journey on early hours of Wednesday June 20, 2007 while surrounded by her family and loved ones. As we continue to cope with sadness and sorrow, deep down inside we know that she is in a better place. Now we have another angel looking over us.

She was born in Tabriz, Iran but later moved to the capital city of Tehran. As part of a large family of 5 sisters and 3 brothers, she was known for her remarkable sense of humor and inviting personality. Earlier in her life, knitting was a passion of hers. Also her love of plants and flowers, in particular roses, was always apparent. Some of her other favorite pastimes were playing card games and backgammon.

She was married to our beloved father Saeed Tanbakoochi for 28 years before he passed away in 1985. They both enjoyed entertaining friends and family with monthly gatherings. Her culinary skills in Persian cuisine were impeccable and she would always generously share her recipes with friends and family.

She was very faithful to her religion and a strong believer in God. One of her prized accomplishments was the fulfillment of her pilgrimage to Mecca.

Since we used to live in a hilly area of Tehran, walking up the hills was a challenging task for most elderly in our neighborhood. One of her favorite things to do was to offer rides in her car to elderly. Also throughout her life she was mindful of helping the poor and less fortunate.

Our mother moved to the United States in the early 1990’s to be closer to her children. Her children and grandchildren were her life and she enjoyed being surrounded by them tremendously.

Up until the last couple of years she enjoyed a healthy and joyful life however, as her health began to decline a number of wonderful people helped our family to provide care and comfort for our mother.

We specially would like to extend our sincere and deepest gratitude to her daughter in law Julie Lucy, who provided our mom with endless love and remarkable devotion. Her compassion and kindness was a shining reflection of their mutual love for each other.

We would like to also thank her faithful caregivers Betty and Maria who were able to provide our mother with a comfortable environment during the last stages of her life. We also would like to express our appreciation to Joyce and the rest of her team at AseraCare Hospice for providing the highest level of professional care combined with tenderness and affection.

Our dearest mother will be missed by so many people, but mostly by her 4 children: Nader, Giti, Feri, Alireza, her daughter in law Julie, her son in laws Ali and Kamyar, and her 3 grandchildren: Arya, Kasra and Raha.

We would like to express our heartfelt and profound appreciation to our extended family in Canada and Iran for their love and support in these difficult times.

God bless her soul and may she rest in peace.
