Obituary
Gwen Canfield
April 29, 1914 – September 14, 2011
Gwen Canfield, 97, longtime resident of Laguna Beach, California, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 14, 2011.
She was born on April 29, 1914, in Storm Lake, Iowa to John and Anna (Coyle) Toohey.
Gwen wed Dell A. Canfield on October 29, 1934, and they were happily married for 66 years before he died in February of 2001.
She is the beloved mother of four children: Barbara Hillman, Don Canfield, Margie Canfield Willis, and Sue Cable (Wade). She has 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Gwen was famous for her generosity, hospitality, fun loving spirit, and apple pies! She was a true ‘party girl’ never wanting to miss out on any fun, and her mind was razor sharp to the end.
She will be sorely missed, but leaves an incredible legacy that will live on in all of us.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Newport Beach.

Dearest Margie,
What a great mom and friend Gwen was to all of you — I know you are all missing her but also know how all those great times you had through the years will keep you smiling! I remember her laugh so well. I will be thinking of you lots and send my best to the entire clan.
