Obituary

Tommy Gwendolyn Gregg Brown (Gwen Brown)

Tommy Gwendolyn Gregg Brown (Gwen Brown), age 88, of Laguna Niguel, California, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on December 28, 2015. She was born July 10, 1927 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Ozella Veda and Thomas Webster Gregg. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Joseph R. Brown, Jr.; daughter Jo Moore; daughter Dow O’Brien and husband Tracy O’Brien; grandson Nicholas Gregg Moore and step-grandson Jeremy Fillmore; and stepsons Christopher Houston Brown and wife Mary Brown; Joseph R. Brown III; and Timothy Christian Brown.

Gwen Brown moved to Dallas, Texas as a young woman and made a life there for over 30 years before meeting Joe Brown and moving to California, residing in Laguna Niguel, close to the ocean she loved. She had a successful career in high rise condominium real estate sales in both Texas and California.

For over 40 years, Gwen was a grateful member of AA, and her personal story deeply influenced the lives of others. Her kindness and sense of humor earned her countless friends and she was a role model and mentor to many.

Gwen was a beautiful woman of great style, substance and epicurean tastes who took pleasure in collecting fine art, antiques and jewelry.

The family would like to thank Marlene Baker, Marie Elias, Tina Rhydolm, Priscilla Marsh and Bryce Marsh for the extraordinary care and devotion given to Gwen to allow her to die in peace, dignity and love.

A celebration of life will be held at Laguna Niguel Presbyterian Church, 30071 Ivy Glenn Dr. in Laguna Niguel on January 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Gwen Brown’s name to Laura’s House, a South Orange County crisis intervention organization and shelter, www.laurashouse.org.
