Obituary

DiNatale, Guy Peter
October 9, 1938 – August 2, 2017

Guy DiNatale of Coto de Caza passed away suddenly on August 2, 2017 due to a massive heart attack.

Guy was born in Ware, Massachusetts to Dominic and Gaetana (Ida) DiNatale. His mother and father divorced when Guy was 8 years old and his sister Adeline was 10. His mother married Anthony Shimansky, and their brother Anthony Shimansky, Jr. was born in 1950. Guy and his sister and brother grew up in South Barre, Massachusetts and attended the local schools through high school graduation.

Guy met his future wife, Patricia Wylie of Gilbertville, Massachusetts at an All School Music Festival on July 2, 1955 when he was 16 and she was 15. They became high school sweethearts and married on August 20, 1960. They would have celebrated their 57th anniversary on August 20th this year.

After their marriage, Guy and Pat moved to Coral Gables, Florida where he attended the University of Miami receiving a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering. Guy received job offers from airlines manufacturers in California and shortly after his graduation, Guy and Pat left Massachusetts for California where he had accepted an offer from Autonetics in Downey, California.

Their daughter Diane was born in 1962, and the family moved from Downey to North Long Beach where they purchased their first home. In 1964, they moved to Lakewood, California. Guy attended California State College in Los Angeles during this period and received his Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Their second daughter Suzanne was born in 1972. Guy accepted a position with McDonnell Douglas in Long Beach, CA and joined their airline sales department. The position required travel to numerous countries in the world whose airlines were interested in the purchase of McDonnell Douglas airplanes.

The family moved again to Cypress, California in 1964.

Shortly after McDonnell Douglas was purchased by the Boeing Company, Guy accepted a position with Boeing and joined their sales department. He was promoted to Vice President of International Marketing and continued to travel all over the world. He remained at Boeing until 2006, when he decided to retire to be able to spend more time with his family which now included his two granddaughters Corinne and Kristen Porter.

Services for Guy will be held at O’Connor Mortuary at 25301 Alicia Parkway in Laguna Hills. There will be a viewing from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, August 10. Funeral Services will be held at O’Connor on Friday, August 11 at 1:00 p.m. Upon completion of the funeral service there will be a short graveside service at the El Toro Memorial Cemetery prior to burial. 2. Dear Pat and family: It is with sadness I write this message and hope for the best for all of you in this trying time. I was so shocked to hear of Guy’s passing yesterday. Guy was an interesting person and being a next door neighbor for 30 years makes this even more shocking. My kids. Lauren and Brett loved his cantankerous attitude and then Guy say such great things to them.

I really loved talking with Guy about the gardeners and the love hate relationship! So fun! Tough on the outside, he was soft-serve ice cream on the inside.

Always friendly, kind and caring, many times he helped us out.

    He will be missed!

Love to you all in this difficult time.

I reported to Guy DiNatale while working at McDonnell Douglas. He was Vice President of MDISCO (McDonnell Douglas International Sales Corporation). I was the senior accountant that prepared sensitive contract disbursements for Guy. It’s sad to hear about his passing. I have fond memories of that moment of time working at McDonnell Douglas and with Guy.
