Gordon George Getchel, 63, was born September 1, 1945 in Michigan and passed away after a very brief battle with cancer July 11, 2009 in Irvine, CA. Gordon graduated from the USC School of Architecture and specialized in school site design and development. He was also elected to the Irvine School Board, from 1983 to 1988, serving as President for one year. An Architect for 37 years, Gordon is survived by his best friend and companion, Fran Bakst; daughter, Amy Getchel and grandson, Ian Getchel.
