Gloria Hilda
Uhler
September 8, 1946 – September 4, 2022
Gloria Uhler, the incredible love of my life, passed away at her home September 4, 2022. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by close friends and family. She knew that her suffering would soon be over and she courageously accepted it.
Gloria was born September 8, 1946 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where her older sister, Rose, still lives. Gloria had two children, was the stepmother of two, and the step-grandmother of three.
Gloria was vibrant and an inspiration to everyone she met. Her talents abounded. As part of the Orange County Clay Guild, she fabricated many ingenious works of art and numerous inventive pieces of jewelry. She published an instructive book about the creative methods she used in her crafting. Gloria sewed extensively, constructing clothing for herself, family members and a great many others. She created multiple paintings and other works of art, many of which are displayed in her home. Throughout her advertising career, Gloria was an accomplished writer. After retiring, she co-wrote a screenplay which was made into a film. She was the definition of multi-talented.
Knowing she would soon pass, Gloria wrote: “I have been fortunate in so many ways. My years have been so richly textured and colorful. Sometimes they were wild and, in my view, extraordinary. I had one-of a-kind experiences, loving family, exciting travel, and a community of friends larger than I could ever have dreamed possible. Take a drink in hand for you, for me, for lives well lived. Dance around the room knowing that I’ve had the time of my life. That’s really something to celebrate!”
Gloria’s family and friends were so fortunate to have known and loved her. We will forever have a void in our hearts which she had so graciously filled.
Her wishes are to be cremated and have a portion of her ashes scattered near her childhood home in Massachusetts, the rest to remain at her home in Laguna Niguel.
A celebration of her life will be scheduled sometime in the near future.
