Obituary
Gloria Uhler, the incredible love of my life, passed away at her home September 4, 2022. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by close friends and family. She knew that her suffering would soon be over and she courageously accepted it.
Gloria was born September 8, 1946 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, where her older sister, Rose, still lives. Gloria had two children, was the stepmother of two, and the step-grandmother of three.
Gloria was vibrant and an inspiration to everyone she met. Her talents abounded. As part of the Orange County Clay Guild, she fabricated many ingenious works of art and numerous inventive pieces of jewelry. She published an instructive book about the creative methods she used in her crafting. Gloria sewed extensively, constructing clothing for herself, family members and a great many others. She created multiple paintings and other works of art, many of which are displayed in her home. Throughout her advertising career, Gloria was an accomplished writer. After retiring, she co-wrote a screenplay which was made into a film. She was the definition of multi-talented.
Knowing she would soon pass, Gloria wrote: “I have been fortunate in so many ways. My years have been so richly textured and colorful. Sometimes they were wild and, in my view, extraordinary. I had one-of a-kind experiences, loving family, exciting travel, and a community of friends larger than I could ever have dreamed possible. Take a drink in hand for you, for me, for lives well lived. Dance around the room knowing that I’ve had the time of my life. That’s really something to celebrate!”
Gloria’s family and friends were so fortunate to have known and loved her. We will forever have a void in our hearts which she had so graciously filled.
Her wishes are to be cremated and have a portion of her ashes scattered near her childhood home in Massachusetts, the rest to remain at her home in Laguna Niguel.
A celebration of her life will be scheduled sometime in the near future.

This beautiful, courageous, gracious, imaginative women was my baby sister.
One of the most wonderful women I know. She was one of the loves of my life. When we were young we didn’t much pay attention to each other because of our age difference. Then all of a sudden something changed. Beginning with our teen years. We got to know each other’s characters. Gloria and I became so close. I had her back and she had mine. Then she moved from New England to California. She blossomed into a creative genius. Crafts, author, screenplay writer and more. She could decorate a table for dinner that would make Martha Stewart jealous. I will miss this wonderful women. Who can I text a message to everyday? I will miss you everyday. Love you sis. May God Bless You.

I already miss Gloria so much. We always had so much fun together and I loved her laugh and quick humor. She lived an interesting and multi-talented life and was always quick to help others when she could. She was a special person and loved by many. I know we will all miss her, and my heart especially aches for Ray.

Gloria was my dearest friend, my co-writer, my partner-in-crime (literally) and my entertainment role model. How I admire her talent, her creativity, her tenacity, and now, her immense courage at how she tackled the last few months. She’s left such a huge void at our table each time we celebrate an event but she will live on in our hearts as the remarkable domestic diva.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ray and her loved ones.
Love, Bibi and John
