Ethel Virginia Prestwich passed away on March 9, 2024, in Aliso Viejo, California at the age of 88.
Born Ethel Virginia Blumve, known as Ginger to her family and friends, on March 29, 1935, in Pasadena, California, she was the fourth daughter to her parents, Arthur and Elva Blumve. Ginger married Monte Kunz in 1957 and they had four daughters together until their subsequent divorce in 1974.
She was a resident of Emerald Bay in Laguna Beach for over 45 years, which always had a special place in her heart. She found companionship and love with John Prestwich, whom she married in February of 1975, in Los Angeles, California.
Ginger leaves behind a legacy through her children: Kimberly England (married to Dave), Jeanette Kunz, Patricia Meurs (married to Eric), and Diana Sails (married to Clint). Ginger was blessed with a large family, including ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to her life. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Michelson, and her cousin James McKoane. She was proceeded in death by her husband (John), her sisters (Caroline Ebeid, and Patricia Bilheimer), and her grandchildren (Ryan Benton, Stuart Warnock, Brianna Robertson, and April Meurs).
Ginger was a woman of many talents and passions. She first embarked on a career as a United Airlines stewardess before dedicating twenty years to teaching at El Morro Elementary School in Laguna Beach. Her adventurous spirit led her to spend much time in Maui, Hawaii and traveling the world. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Throughout her life, Ginger found solace and joy in her faith, family, and community. She had a passion for serving others, scrapbooking and card making, Scrabble on the beach, golf and tennis, reading and classical music, and keeping a beautiful home and garden.
Her funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 10:00am on March 31, 2024 at 22851 Aliso Creek Rd, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656 followed by her burial on April 1, 2024 at Riverside National Cemetery.
