Gerald Wayne (Jerry) Martin, born October 2, 1948, died unexpectedly at his Laguna Niguel home on July 11, 2018. Beloved and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

Jerry was born in Detroit, Mi to James and LaVerne Vaughn Martin and raised in St. Clair Shores, MI, graduating from Lakeview High School, (Class of 1966), and Eastern Michigan University (Class of 1971).

After moving to California and settling in the Los Angeles/Glendale area he worked as a Sales Manager and then Small Business owner in the stainless steel industry. He also worked as a Middle School substitute teacher during his final working years and retired in 2008 after moving to Laguna Niguel, CA.

For the last 5 Summers he has been a volunteer at the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach as the Cast Caller, where he received many compliments on the beautiful dulcet tones of his voice.

A big sports lover, he played quarterback in High School, and was a devoted coach and enthusiastic supporter for his sons sports teams. One of his favorite titles was “Coach”.

He was warm, sensitive, generous, kind, and loving to everyone.  He loved singing love songs; Progressive ideals; his dear childhood friends; old Westerns and researching the actors in those Westerns; watching College and Pro football; mysteries and “guilty pleasures” TV shows; Firesign Theater; grandbabies and Bob Dylan.

He is survived by his wife Nancy; sons Jonah Martin (wife Constance), Seth Blonder (wife Suzy): grandchildren Kade, Ty, and Audrey Martin, Elizabeth and Alicia Blonder; three step-daughters and nine step-grandchildren; brother James Martin (wife Joan); niece Jennifer Martin and  nephew James Martin (wife Lisa); two great-nieces, Jessica and Elizabeth Martin; and so many cousins.

Memorial Service being held Saturday, July 21st at 2:00pm, O’Connor Mortuary, Laguna Hills, CA.
