George W. Field 79
Born March 11, 1927 in Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 in San Juan Capistrano, California of Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. He worked for City of Oceanside as a Deputy City Manager for 35 years.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Beatrice Field; loving daughter, Sandra Sodaberg; loving sons, Stephan Rohn, Timothy Field, Daniel Field and Thomas Field; beloved sister, Mary Lou Elliot, and five adoring grandchildren. His memory will be cherished always, and he will be missed deeply.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2006 ~ 1:30 P.M. at O’Connor Laguna Hills Mortuary, Laguna Hills, California.

I first met George in 1985 when he was my instructor in Building Codes at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA. I worked for him at the City of Oceanside in the Building Department.
I will always remember his quick smile and his friendliness to everybody he met; he seemed to make everyone feel like he’d known them forever. He had an optimism and zest for life that spilled over onto anyone close by enough to catch it! His example encouraged me to be more “people-oriented” in my professional life and I owe George a great deal for that!
Knowing him has made my life much richer and I will always think of him fondly – and then I’ll smile, since I’m pretty sure that’s what he’d want all of us to do!
George, you’ll be in my heart forever. You are one special person!
