Garretts life was taken from us way to soon.  Our angel has gone up to heaven to spend all eternity dancing in peace.  I’m sure he is up there with his headphones in his ears listening to music, just like we remember him.  He brought a smile and laughter to many even through his own struggles.  He was a beautiful soul with so much internal pain.  Through it all he always cared so much about everyone.  Garrett passed no judgement to anyone, loved everyone.  We’ll remember his laugh, it was infectious, his witty sense of humor and his incredibly quirky ways.  He was a tender heart that hurt often.  Someone out there took his life from us and the pain of that is unbearable.

Garrett loved the homeless probably because he just could relate to anyone who had struggled.  He loved animals, he loved bugs and boy did he love the dirt.  I could not keep that boy clean to save my life!  I have so many memories of him just climbing through whatever dirt pile he could find.  He also loved the ocean, swimming with the sea turtles and being at one with the land and sea.  He seemed so much at peace just being outdoors.  He said the most funny things sometimes at the most inappropriate times, but that was Garrett.  He held the ones he loved close to his heart.  He had a close knit group of friends and whether they spoke daily or had not spoken for a time, they would take up just where they left off as if no time had passed.  If he made you mad you couldn’t help but love him because he that effect on everyone.  Garrett had his own agenda and he did things in his own time when he was ready.  I believe he was ready to make some changes for the better based on the wonderful conversation we had up until the day before he died.  Sadly, we did not get to see the amazing things he could have shown this world.

When Garrett was is high school one of the classes he excelled in was ASL.  He was quick with his hands and so naturally he took to this class.  There was a time when he had to perform in front of class speaking in sign and he made the entire class smile and laugh so hard that they requested an encore of his performance.  That was not surprising being that he could make people laugh all the time.  Even his brother Zack thought he was one of the funniest people he knew.  Garrett loved music, all different types of music from Lana Del Ray to Ricky Nelson.  His music showed the painful part of him to the playful. His love of animals from his Guinea pig squirt, Beans his turtle, his ant farm that he set free in my carpet, his family dog Oliver to his last and final love Lucy his dog that he loved so much until his last breath.  That was my son Garrett and I will always be grateful that God allowed me to borrow him for just a little while.  Rest in peace, my sweet boy Garrett.

Garrett will be missed and not forgotten by his entire family and so many friends.
