Frank Verdone, 92

Frank Verdone, 92, went home to our heavenly father on Friday, August 21, 2026, after a long illness of Alzheimer’s. He was the husband of Linda Verdone (deceased) for 63 years, father of Maria Lane, and late sone Peter (2008). Papa, Grandfather of Michelle, 29, and Joey, 27.

Born in Caltanissetta, Sicily on February 12, 1934, to the late Pedro Giusippe and Maria Verdone. He was preceded in death by his son Peter and wife Linda. Survived by his young brother Giovanni Verdone, his sister Teresa Buccheri, and his daughter Maria.

He had many cousins, both from Italy and the East Coast, where he lived for more than 50 years. After his father’s death, Frank first worked in a coffee shop at 14 years old doing odd jobs in a restaurant and then becoming a barista to help his family. Later at age 18, Frank came to the United States in 1956 his siblings to live with his Aunt Rose. He had many jobs, such working in a candy factory called Schrafft's Candy Company as a Chocolatier. He finished his working career employed by Raytheon on an assembly line.

Through mutual friends, he met his wife Linda, and they got married in 1958. They had two children, Maria and Peter, and lived in Melrose, Massachusetts. To pass the time, he would visit his brother in the pizza shop in Malden and spend time with his son in Peter’s garage fixing cars.

He enjoyed hosting family and friends for dinner, playing cards, dancing with his wife, and visiting relatives. He also enjoyed playing bocce in the backyard with friends and family.

Later in life Frank and Linda enjoyed traveling with Peter and his wife to Bonaire, Bermuda, and Italy.

After Peter’s death, Frank and Linda moved to California to be closer to their daughter Maria, Bruce, and their children Michelle and Joey. They lived independently in a senior community in Mission Viejo where they made friends. Several years later they moved in with Maria and her family so they could help with taking care of them. It was not easy living with six adults under one roof, but with God’s love and guidance, we were all bless with love, support, happiness, and lots of food for 8 years.

We will miss the constructive criticism over food or any facts about Italy, and all the stories that Frank shared with all of us. We will also miss his jolly smile and laughter.
