Obituary

LCDR Francis Lester “Frank” Enos, USN (Ret), beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on the morning of December 31st at the age of 79.

Frank is survived by his wife Antoinette, his son Frank, his daughter-in-law Robin, his grandchildren Sean, Benjamin, and Madeleine, his brother-in-law Louis R. Brandi, his brother- and sister-in-law Anthony J. and Betty Gros, and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Tres Pinos, California on December 28th, 1933, Frank’s family lived and worked on a farm owned by the Etcheverry family. He graduated from Hollister high school, where he played football. In 1953, he enlisted in the US Navy, and in 22 years of service rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was a graduate of the Navy’s Nuclear Power School, and served on the USS Hassayampa, the USS Guadalupe, was a plank holder of the USS Long Beach, served on the USS Ticonderoga, and served as Chief Engineer of the USS Wichita. After retiring from the Navy, Frank began a career in alternative energy, managing geothermal power plants and serving as president of Imperial Power Services, a well drilling company in the Imperial Valley. During this time, he served as President of the Brawley Chamber of Commerce and as Chairman of the City Planning Commission. In 1988, he moved to Orange County, where he worked for Laidlaw Gas Recovery Systems, managing landfill gas recovery power plants in California, New York, and Hawaii.

In 1969, he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for service as Main Engines Officer of the USS Ticonderoga during the Vietnam War. His citation read in part, “Lieutenant Enos’ leadership and devotion to duty reflected great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the naval service”.

Frank will be remembered for his great generosity and kindness to family and others, his tremendous integrity, his love of animals, his sense of humor, and his love of sunsets and the stars.

A memorial service for Francis L. Enos will be held on Saturday, January 5th, 2013, at 4 p.m. at O’Connor Mortuary, located at 25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA 92653.
