Obituary

Flora Ruth Sanchez, 99, of Capistrano Beach, CA, passed peacefully on December 4, 2024. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Juan “Tony” Sanchez, who passed in 2005.

Flora leaves her beloved daughters, Toni (George) Reidy of Shrewsbury, MA, Barbara (Robert) Kossin of Capistrano Beach, CA, Sandra (Richard) Haradon of Zionville, NC, and Rene (Richard) Hunter of Brea, CA. Her cherished grandchildren are Terence (Sarah) Reidy, John Reidy, Brian Reidy, George (Jen) Reidy, Melissa Haradon, Robert (Alison) Kossin, Selina (Tim)  Logue, Sasha (Brendon) Alley, Nicole Hunter, Keri Anderson, and Kelly (Paul) Garriott. She was blessed to have great-grandchildren Payton, Jacob, and Finn Reidy, Taylor and Lindsay Reidy, Ryan and Leighton Reidy, Jack and Nathan Kossin, Brianna and Ava Garriott, and Lauren Anderson. Flora also deeply loved all her nieces and nephews.

Flora was born to Francisco and Donaciana Reyes, and had 7 sisters and a brother. She was born in El Monte, CA on October 16, 1925. Tony and Flora were married in 1945 and after WW2 moved to La Puente, CA where they raised their family. Flora displayed her artistic and creative talents through her sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting projects. She became the neighborhood hair dresser, skills she learned at her oldest sister’s beauty salon. She was also a beautiful painter and talented cook.

We hope we can all remember Mom as she lived – full of courage, brilliance, and unwavering love. Though our hearts ache with your absence, we are eternally grateful for the love and lessons you imparted to us. We are better for having had you in our lives, and blessed to carry your memory in our hearts. Thank you, Mom, for being our greatest teacher, our guiding light, and our forever inspiration. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.

The family would like to thank the staff of Grand View Villas in Mission Viejo, CA, for their loving care and compassion. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
