Faith (Cunningham) Schafnitz August 10, 1947 – September 14, 2014

Faith Schafnitz, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly at her home in Irvine, California on Sunday, September 14, 2014. She was 67 years old.

Born in Cook County, Illinois, Faith moved to California in 1952. She graduated from Whittier High School in 1965. Faith raised her two children in Fullerton, CA where she owned and operated a successful beauty supply business and nail salon for over a decade. She then spent several years living in Lake Havasu before returning to Orange County, where she spent the remainder of her years. Those who knew Faith would describe her as hard-working, loving, caring, witty, and fiercely devoted to her children. She enjoyed playing golf during her years in Lake Havasu, and couldn’t be happier than she was during a game of cards or Dominoes with her family and friends. Faith was a proud Grandma and looked forward to the time she got to spend with her grandchildren.

Faith is survived by her son Matthew Schafnitz, son Robert Schafnitz and his wife Amy, her grandchildren Noah, Aisley, and Gavin Schafnitz, her brother Charles “Chick” Cunningham, and niece Kristin Cunningham. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Lucille Cunningham.

A memorial service in Faith’s honor will be held at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Parkway in Laguna Hills on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Immediately following, refreshments will be served at the home of Robert and Amy Schafnitz in Irvine, CA. The interment will take place at El Toro Memorial Park, 25751 Trabuco Road in Lake Forest at 1:30 PM. Floral donations can be sent to O’Connor Mortuary. Monetary donations may be made to Orange County Children’s Hospital, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or your favorite charity in memory of Faith.
