Salkeld, Eugene M.

Gene Salkeld, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Newport Beach, CA surrounded by family on November 10, 2017. Born in Alhambra, CA on August 16, 1932, Gene attended Loyola High School and Loyola Marymount University where he played intercollegiate basketball. After graduating LMU, Gene earned his CPA and worked 40 years for an international public accounting firm before retiring and spending time near the ocean in Newport Beach. Gene was active in making the community a better place as a Board Member for the Boy Scouts of America and volunteering for the Serra Club and its mission to foster and affirm vocations to the priesthood.

Gene was the leader of his family as an amazing husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pat, and their children Kathy (John), Michelle (Scott), Mike, Matt (Holly), and Mark. “Papa” also leaves behind the lights of his life in his four grandchildren: Chris, Michael, Brian, and Lindsey.

A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Newport Beach, on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 10:00am.
