He was a wonderful person and I feel blessed to have known him. He was also a wonderful tai chi master and teacher and I will be forever thankful to have learned from him while he was at MIT in Cambridge. While late, my condolences to his family.

Professor Liu was very nice to me when I studied with him. He knew I had been a student of Bow Sim Mark and was a serious, in for the long haul, type i of student… He taught me well, because of my sincerity toward Tai chi was at that time, and I’ll bet still as rare as can be..I was serious, and Professor Liu was able to see that and willing to be such a gentle fatherly man.to me, I can’tell you hiw much he meant to me, for his sincerity toward my desire to get Tai Chi was such a beautiful experience that I treasure to this day. I’ve had several tai chi chuan teachers who I have to say were equally sympathetic to my deep desire to understand not just tai chi chi gung, but the truth it all conveys to us. He instilled such a technically precise understanding of the movements, it is hard for outsiders and other students to understand its profound depth..
Its Professor Liu’s adaptation if Chen Man Cheng and TT Liangs Yang Style form that has stayed with me and I continue to explore with profound depth 30 years later. May he rest in peace

  4. I just learned of his passing.
He lives on in my memory as a true master and good man. I was in his class in Cambridge in the 80’s; he was a patient and devoted teacher.
My deepest condolences to his family and students.
