Estrella Ruth Luna Larioza

Estrella Ruth Luna Larioza, was born on May 11, 1931 and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. She received several degrees including Voice, Piano, Church Music and Organ from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in Ohio.  She also earned a teaching degree from the University of Hawaii and taught at Punahou School and for the State of Hawaii, Department of Education.

Larioza Music Studio was her thriving business, offering private music instruction in Wahiawa and Aiea, on the island of Oahu.  Estrella was an active member of Pearl City Community Church, where she was part of several ministries and served as the choir director.  In her spare time she was active in “Jazzercise”, was part of several performing ensembles and enjoyed composing songs.  She was also the personal “Uber” driver for her grandchildren. In her later years, she was active with the Zonta Club, Mariners Church, Trabuco and Lake View Senior Centers.

She died of natural causes on March 28th in Irvine, California with her family present. She was 89 years old and survived by Brothers:  Sam Luna (Esther) and Martin Luna.  Children:  Estrellita, Pierino, Carmelisa, Adriano and Martimiano.  Grandchildren:  Aulani, Ka’ohi, Malia, Eli and Betty.

Services will be held at Pearl City Community Church.  Burial at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl).

    Rest in Love my Beautiful Aunty. I will always remember you smiling and laughing. Before my mom passed herself, she told me that you were her favorite Aunty. Some of my fondest memories as a kekei was seeing you, Unko David, and da Larioza gang dancing with the Bamboo polls. I will never forget that. Heaven has gained a very special Angel.
