Ernest “Ernie” Castro's Obituary

Ernest “Ernie” Castro lost his courageous battle against colon cancer on January 3, 2014 at the age of 56.

Born July 22, 1957 in Chula Vista, California to Tony and Stella Castro, he lived his early life in Hawthorne, California attending Hawthorne High School and Long Beach State University. He moved to Orange County in 1980 and resided in Aliso Viejo until his death.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 34 years Peggy, daughter Kim (Justin), soon to be born grandson Alex, and daughter Liz, mother Stella, and brothers Mike and Dave and their families.

An avid sports enthusiast, his first love was baseball and coaching Little League. We will all miss his fun-loving, easygoing personality, big hugs, and contagious smile. Our family trips to Las Vegas and Del Mar will never be the same.

A celebration of life will be held at O Connor Mortuary Chapel on Friday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/Ernie_Castro

Or if you would like to donate towards the scholarship fund for the Rancho Santa Margarita Little League, please mail checks to ‘Rancho Santa Margarita Little League’ and note that the donation is in remembrance of Ernie Castro at the bottom of the check.
