ERIN’S STORY

All families have stories and each of us has a chapter within those family stories. If one were to flip through the pages of that story as though it was a book, Erin’s chapter begins

January 21, 1975. I was there along with our sister, Lauren, cousin, Angie, Grandma Vessel.. oh, and Mom, you were there. Dad, you came late.

Erin filled the pages of her chapter with the things we all hold at great value; love, kindness, acceptance, forgiveness.. She embraced life with a vivaciousness that honored God’s gift; living every day to its fullest. She cherished each and every one of you, as evidenced by the outpouring of love, sorrow and condolences we have received.

The pages of Erin’s life are filled with family holidays, travel to far-flung places, quiet nights with friends, epic festivals, days at the beach and adventurous endeavors. She made it a point to spend quality one-on-one time with her siblings and nieces and nephews. She is the “fun aunt”. Erin had a multitude of friends, yet she made every person in her sphere feel special and important to her – because they were!

Mid-way through Erin’s chapter, the pages so full and richly inscribed, suddenly become blank. She had so many more years of living and loving to fill her chapter. This is what we grieve, the unwritten pages. It is difficult to see through that grief and remember that we should also rejoice that her spirit has been lifted up and we will see her again. Erin made her first holy communion here at St. Edwards. It is only fitting that we offer our final farewell to her here [at St. Edwards]; high on a hill, over-looking the ocean.’

  2. Erin was born with this amazing and beautiful gift…….to LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY. You could always see it in her eyes and hear it in her voice and feel the warmth of her love surround you. Her life here on this earth was taken way to soon, but Erin left us with so much love, laughter, fun and stories for us to tell and remember. All these things and more will remain with us until we meet and see her again. Gary and I hope to walk through the rest of our journey here on earth, taking the grace she embodied, her love, her laugh and her smile with us. We are Thankful and Truly Blessed for the years that we had with Erin.
“Gone yet not forgotten, although we are apart, your spirit lives within us, forever in our hearts.” Unknown
