Obituary

Eric passed away from Covid-19 in Huntington Beach Hospital on August 14th, 2021. He was born in Anaheim, CA. He is survived by his son Ian Vedder, his sister Terri White, brother Jimmy Curtis, nephew Shaun White, and his niece Krystal White.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents Robert Vedder and Dixie Casitas Curtis, as well as his son Cody Devo Vedder and his sister Zelma Walters.

Eric resided in Huntington Beach with his Best Girl, Lori Norrick, his son Ian Vedder and his step-daughter Erin Smith-Norrick. He was ALWAYS a dedicated father. He was also your not-so-typical California surf punk. He enjoyed surfing and skating for many years. He played in many bands, most recently the Step Daughters, and was known for his intuitive style on the bass, and his passion for music.

His dad gave him his first Vespa at the age of 15, and he has been riding classic Vespas ever since. Currently he is a member of the West Side Scooter Club.

Eric was loved by many people and known for his tough exterior and his very, very big heart.

A public viewing for Eric will be held at O’Connor Mortuary on September 4th from 10am to 12 pm and the service will be from 2pm to 4pm. There is also a live stream of the service for those who cannot attend.

To Lori, Ian, Erin & his entire family, my deepest condolences. Eric was like a little brother to me when I was in high school as he was ALWAYS with my brother. They got into trouble and had some good times together. Reconnecting with him via social media was sweet and I’ll miss his posts, his pictures and just the thought of him riding up and down PCH on his Vespa. I hope you can all find peace at some point. This one hurts. Sending you lots of love.

I’ was so saddened and shocked to hear about Eric’s passing,..
He could always make you laugh and put a smile on your face!!!
I grew up across the street from him when I was younger, he told on me to my
Mom that I said the “F” word and I got my mouth washed out with soap!! Lol ‚
My first time skiing was in Lake Tahoe he was there we went to the top of the mountain and before he headed down he gave a pin to put on my jacket that said broken bones and wished me luck!!! It may have taken me 30+ mins to get down but I made it!!!
Haven’t seen him in years, but some contact on Facebook over the years!
He will be truly missed by many!!!
Happy to have these great memories!
My thoughts and prayers go out to all family and friends!!! Sending love and hugs your way!

So sorry for your loss. Praying fir you.

    1. My Brother from Another Mother. We rode our bikes our skateboards and drove our single Moms crazy growing up in the Windwoods in the late 70’s early 80’s. Being your upstairs neighbor was certainly my claim to fame pre high school..

We spent so many years – Holidays and every Christmas Eve surrounded by our whacky families eating our favorite foods exchanging gifts- and listening to good music as always. – we just showed up for one another.

Then we became parents ourselves and we maneuvered the highs lows and joys that our children bring into our lives. We suffered through many losses and celebrated many successes too!
      .
Seeing you this last decade rolling through life with your “best girl Lori” made me so happy watching YOU be so happy!
Even though you were most certainly the shit stirrer of the family- You’d made us all shake our heads with a smirk you shouldn’t have seen because goodness knows you needed no more encouragement.
You have forever been such a Present loving Father to Both your handsome mini-me sons Cody & Baby Ian and this too made me so proud and Happy.

Save many seats at the bar next to you up in heaven Eric.

The list is LONG of friends who will miss your smart ass- bass playing- animal loving- sentimental heart and of course your Dapper Dan sense of style.
YOU ARE SO SORELY MISSED and NEVER FORGOTTEN !

  4. He had another sister too, and I miss him a lot. We didn’t grow up in the same home because we had different moms, but we were our dads only two kids and now they are both gone and it’s only me. I wish we had seen each other more as kids and adults, we had chatted together online more in the last few years. He said it bothered him he hadn’t gotten to meet all his nieces and I am so bummed we didn’t get to visit the last time I was in California. My only brother, my favorite sibling, I miss you and love you. I always wanted to be more like you, I am so sorry this virus took you from us.

  5. I grew up next door to Eric in Windwood. His little brother Jimmy was my best friend. To me Eric was mischievous, a do it your selfer and a protector.
I told my mom on him and Jim Gottavac the day they gave me a swirlie in Dixie’s downstairs toilet. Another time he heard that an older kid from up the hill took my soccer ball from me. A few days later Eric threw my ball over into our patio. I found out later that it didn’t go well for the bully. To this day it’s still hard to explain how much that act meant to me.

Condolences to his family and his many friends. RIP buckaroo.
