Enrique “Henry” V. Vargas, age 83, passed away at his home in Lake Forest on June 24, 2014. Enrique was born in Ottine, Texas on January 4, 1931 to Severiano and Carmen (Valdez) Vargas.
Enrique earned a Purple Heart for his service during the Korean War. After the war, he moved to California and worked as an optician for over 40 years. Enrique enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, watching boxing and wrestling, and working crossword puzzles.
Enrique is survived by his wife Clarissa, his three children, Pamela (Kenneth) Larrabee, Sandra (Terry) Christopher, Michael (Jamie) Vargas, and his five grandchildren: Christina, Skyler, Dylan, Talon, and Chase. He is also survived by his sisters, Liz (Frank) Puente, Peter “Lupe” (Raymond) Romero, Carmen Castro, and brother Severiano (Wilma) Vargas Jr., as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Severiano and Carmen, his brothers, Magdaleno, Domingo, Manuel, Jose, Jesus, and his sisters, Mary Levrier and Dora Gallagher.
