In the early morning hours of July 31 ^st , Emma Sales passed away after a decade-long battle with kidney disease. She was seven days shy of her 88 ^th birthday. She is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Cenon Sales, son Raymond Navarro, daughter Pia Rose, daughter-in-law Cecil Navarro, and son-in-law Robert Rose.

Emma was born on August 7, 1935 in Manila, Philippines to Gerardo and Carmen Umali. She was the third daughter with elder sisters Celia and Lennie and younger brother, Cesar, who all preceded her in death.  A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Emma was beautiful, sweet, and loyal. She enjoyed true friendships that withstood the test of time and place, near and far across the ocean. Most of all, she loved her family and took great joy in knowing that she was secure in our love for her. Not wanting to be called grandma, Emma was affectionately called “Mama” by the family. She loved Cenon unconditionally and enjoyed with him everything life had offered through the years. She is also survived by her grandchildren who were a big part of her life and brought immense joy and fulfillment – Chris Rose, Kevin Rose, and Karissa Rose, and granddaughter-in-law, Jessica Rose. Her great grandchildren, Elijah and Isaiah, brought such light and happiness to her especially in recent years as she neared the end of her life.

Known for her faith, Emma accepted that her body was failing her and knew that our Lord Jesus Christ was calling her home. She was at peace leaving everything in God’s hands. In her last days, she gave her wishes to her kids and spent meaningful time with extended family. Emma died in her sleep peacefully.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 4 ^th at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church located at 1600 Corporate Drive, Ladera Ranch, California. Interment will be held privately with her immediate family.
