Obituary

Elmer Galang Cabalda

Elmer Galang Cabalda was called home to our Lord on Monday, March 27, 2023, at 7:25 pm.  He died peacefully at his home and was surrounded by his loving family.

Elmer was born in Cavite City, Philippines, on October 30, 1976. For the first 12 years of his life, he lived in the Philippines with his brother and his mom. Then, at the age of 12, he moved with his family to Tustin, CA.

While in America, he graduated from Tustin high school in 1995, where he played football for four years, in the position of offensive guard and defensive tackle. One of his friends described him as having quick hands and a focused power on the line. He studied at Irvine Valley College and received his associate degree.

For the last 18 years, he has worked for American Automobile Association. He was an insurance agent. He loved his job and was dedicated to helping both customers and coworkers.

On February 2004, he met the love of his life, Romelyn “Mylene.” They had a beautiful 19 years together. Their love story was one of a kind, filled with an amazing love that transcends even death.

Elmer was a Laker fan, and Kobe Bryant was his ultimate favorite. He also enjoyed playing Pokemon, and he just had to catch them all! He was passionate about dancing and he had moves like Mick Jagger! He believed he was the first one to invent TikTok dances. Elmer also enjoyed traveling because he often would say “you need to expand your palette”. He just loved food like he loved his watch and his bright shoes. He said he was a sneakerhead! Fun fact “Elmer can’t leave the house without his watch”. He also loved collecting toys, his favorite aisle at Target was the toy section. He also loved driving because he loves listening to Biggie Smalls. Lastly, Elmer loved spending time with his loved ones this is why in his last days- he asked to be surrounded by his close friends and family.

He is survived by his amazing mom- Erlinda, his loving brother-Erwin Cabalda and his beautiful wife, Romelyn “Mylene”; as well as a niece, numerous nephews, and cousins.

“Think of the sweeter things life has to offer rather than dwell on pain, sorrow and misery; everything is gonna be alright”

  1. Elmer, you will be remembered always! I was lucky to meet Elmer very early in my life, and always remember and recant the fun times we had together. My favorite memories include Elmer singing Boombastic and replacing the lyrics. I will always remember his kind and caring smile and always thinking of others. The world is less without Elmer.
