Elizabeth Theresa Helmuth, lovingly known as “Liz,” passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at the age of 94.
Liz was born on May 27, 1931, in Fresno, California, to a devout Catholic family. She grew up with her beloved twin brother and two older sisters, sharing a childhood filled with love, faith, and cherished memories. She later made her home in Mission Viejo, building a life centered on family, faith, and joy. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter Helmuth (2022), and her son, Michael Joseph Robinson (2025).
She is survived by her two children, Christianne and Gail Marie, as well as her six grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Liz’s legacy lives on through each of them, carried in the traditions, love, and strength she passed down through generations.
Liz’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a familiar and devoted presence, often found in the front pew at daily Mass, living her beliefs with strength and unwavering conviction. She was truly a "Woman of Substance."
A woman of remarkable talent and capability, Liz approached life with organization and efficiency, and there seemed to be nothing she couldn’t do. She was an accomplished painter, skilled in carpentry, sewing, and wallpapering, and a great cook. Liz also had a gift for words, creating beautiful poetry, and possessed a lovely singing voice that could fill a room with joy. Her creativity, care, and passion for life touched everyone around her.
Beyond her many talents, Liz was truly the life of the party. She had a joyful spirit, loved playing pinochle, dancing, and she loved her wine. Her warmth, laughter, and vibrant personality made every gathering brighter, leaving countless cherished memories for all who knew her.
A Rosary will be held Tuesday, April 14th at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Kilian’s Church. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Liz will be laid to rest at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest at 1:30 PM. Liz will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her faith, her strength, her talents, and the joy she brought into the lives of so many.
