Elizabeth Dean (Knight) Wertner
Elizabeth Dean (Knight) Wertner, 80, of Escondido, passed away on September 13, 2023. She was born on July 21, 1943, in Phoenix, AZ, to Russell and Fern Knight. She attended North High School in Phoenix. She met her husband, Tom Wertner, at a softball game in Phoenix and they were married in 1963. They shared 38 years of marriage until his passing in 2001.
Elizabeth was a loving mother of six children: Susan (Ken) Ward, Tami (Mark) Chapman, Tim (Heather) Wertner, Tara (Brian) Wach, Trisha (Charlie) MacQueen, and Tanya. She was also a proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren, who adored her and cherished her. She loved reading, gardening, sewing, and talking about her family. She always made each of her children and grandchildren feel special and loved.
Elizabeth was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She joined the church early in her marriage and served in various callings throughout her life. She worked in the Los Angeles Temple for many years and left a legacy of service and dedication to the gospel. Her descendants have been richly blessed by her decision to follow Jesus and be baptized.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her three younger siblings Russ, Peggy, and Ray, and two daughters Susan and Tami. She is survived by her son Tim, and daughters Tara,Trisha, and Tanya,16 loving grandchildren, and 12 Great Grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29th, 2023. Interment will follow at the Riverside National Cemetery. The family would like to thank Ashley Lindquist and Stacey Knight at Los Robles Hospice for their compassionate care of Elizabeth in her final days.
