Eileen Marie McCoy

Eileen Marie McCoy was born on August 29th 1941 in Los Angeles, California to Elvin and Margaret Rhodes. She passed away from natural causes on November 29th, 2021 in Irvine, California at the age of 80.

Her childhood was filled with fond memories of her dog Gayle, who’s ears she would tie up like a sailors hat while on her tugboat.  Her younger sister Paula would hide under the bed, while Eileen would sing “Paula is a B. R. A. T.” She graduated from Downey High School and Whittier College, where she attended business school.

It was the summer of 1958, the McCoy and Rhodes’ summer homes stood side by side in Newport Beach. Bert McCoy, then a student at UCLA, summoned the courage to ask Eileen’s father for permission to date her. They would be married on June 11th, 1960.

While raising their children, Eileen would work as a secretary at Bert’s optometry practice. She was an accomplished home cook and baker, enticing friends and family with her confections. Eileen had many talents, not limited to the enchanting sounds of her piano playing, and green thumb while tending to the flourishing orchids in her garden.

Eileen is survived by her husband Bert McCoy, Bert McCoy Jr. (Donna), Catherine Tanner (Mike), Patrick McCoy, Cassie Glazer (Devon), Sean McCoy, and nine grandchildren. Her sharp wit, beauty, and maternal wisdom will forever endure in our hearts.”
