Obituary

On Monday, March 11, 2024, Edward James Miltimore, 77, of Laguna Niguel, California, danced his way onto the great dance floor in the sky. He passed peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Born April 15, 1946 in Rohrbach, Germany, first child to Bronia and Richard D. Miltimore, Edward grew up in Waukegan, Illinois, the oldest sibling of four children. After his tour of duty with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he returned home in the late 1960’s and set upon his civilian life marrying and starting their family in Waukegan. In 1975, Edward moved his family to Southern California, where he pursued and earned his B.A. in business and accounting from Cal State Fullerton. Edward was a pioneer in the new world of software development and management, which he successfully navigated for 40 years, retiring at the age of 70.

Edward was truly a man-about-town. He was intelligent, energetic, creative and curious; which made him a most interesting and satisfying companion. Among his great passions were Zydeco dancing, live music, his painting and artwork, his amazing tropical garden and his love of fashion. He enjoyed attending movies and theater, enjoying delicious food, walking and shopping in Laguna Beach and enjoying family. An adventurous traveler, he saw a great deal of the U.S., as well as river cruises in France and the Mediterranean, including the exotic beaches of the Caribbean and the Virgin Islands.

Edward will be deeply missed by all whose lives were enriched by his humor, generosity, and originality. Edward is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Joanne Anderson, daughters Julie Baker-Sweet (Bob) and Betsy Johnson (Jerid) and grandchildren Myles Baker (29), Audrey Johnson (20) and Nathan Johnson (16). Brothers Gene Miltimore (Diane) and Wally Miltimore (Patty); he is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Regina Miltimore.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor in April, with friends and family dancing to the Zydeco music he loved so dearly.
